I have been very fortunate in my life and have enjoyed lots of experiences, including a successful career in the city; benefiting too from the generous mentorship of some amazing companies and colleagues. This background has enabled me to grow and to realise my ambitions.
And so, to say thanks, I enjoy committing my time to give back and to support others in three main ways (the first of which needs you!):
1 – With young people
I regularly go into schools and colleges to talk to 15-18 year olds about the world of work, share tips for CV’s and interviews and also highlight the great career opportunities available in the (re)insurance sector.
I’m always looking for (re)insurance professionals to offer an hour or two to join me to speak to students across London. If you’d like to help young people improve their employability and learn more about career opportunities open to them in (re)insurance (plus boost your skills, personal brand, network, and career at the same time!), then just click here to register your interest and I’ll contact you when the next great opportunity comes up.
2 – With Charity Partners
I work with The Challenge Network (TCN), Inspiring the Future and Visible Women; 3 wonderful charities which connect and inspire young people to aspire, grow in skills and confidence and to strengthen their communities.
I recently enjoyed running a “Leading and Inspiring” workshop for the staff at TCN and working with the Youth Board to teach employability and presentation skills.
I was also thrilled to be invited to be the Inspirational Speaker at a summer graduation celebration, speaking to over 750 young people and their families about the importance of passion and dedication – a truly special and memorable experience.
It was also wonderful to be a speaker as part of the Visible Women campaign whose mission is to raise aspirations; promote mentoring and champion role models for girls around the UK.
3 – As a Trustee
I am delighted to report that in March 2017 I was appointed to the board of trustees for Dress for Success Greater London. This incredible charity works with women who experience many forms of disadvantage and our now job ready and about to attend an interview.
We provide professional clothing, interview training and a support network to ultimately helping the women believe in their own ability to succeed. One in two of the women we help gets the job.
I’ll be sharing more about our plans to help even more women this year than ever before in the coming months but if you’d like to help you can do so today by following this link.
